What We Do
At Coláiste na Rosann our aim is to teach Irish in a congenial, friendly and enjoyable holiday atmosphere and to create a love and enthusiasm for the language. Coláiste na Rosann teaches students the standardised form of Irish quickly, by immersing students in the culture of the area, learning the nósanna and customs through a suitable balance of formal class work, informal afternoon activities and evening entertainment. This in turn leads to a better understanding of the people, their lifestyle and customs in the Donegal Gaeltacht, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Going to Irish college in the Gaeltacht during the summer months is the popular choice of many young Irish boys and girls aged 10-18 years. Some 25,000 students engage in this right-of-passage experience each June, July and August, many hundreds of students making Coláiste na Rosann their first choice, in the beautiful rugged Rosses area. They pack their bags and head to the Gaeltacht areas of Dún na nGall (Donegal) and other areas to spend a while totally immersed in the rural communities where the Irish Language is still widely spoken in the community. They learn and develop fluency in the Irish Language but also experience first hand the rich traditions and culture. Conversing in the national language allows for a deeper sense and understanding of the spirit of Ireland, its culture, heritage and history. Even students not so interested in the language aspect are joining to participate in the activity programme and to meet new friends.

Irish with a modern twist!!!!

This year Coláiste na Rosann has implemented huge changes to its courses. Our aim is to bring Irish back into the modern world. We aim to teach students not only Irish but to give every student two new skills in multi-media. At the end of every course, our students will leave us having made themselves a short film or television / radio programme. This module will be taught with the help of professionals from the world of Irish media.
